Shaq on his beef with Pat Riley: 'I wasn`t with five hour
    practices'
    by HoopsVibe News
    Sep 6th, 2010
Question: While with the Miami Heat, you appeared to have a
strained relationship with former Heat coach Pat Riley. What
    happened?

    Shaquille O’Neal (answer): I wasn’t with the five-hour
practices. Some people have different mentalities, but I was
just coming off three out of four (NBA Finals MVP awards).
With the Lakers, Phil (Jackson) treated us like men with 1 ½
-hour practices. I’m a businessman, and I don’t know how
other men view me personally, nor do I care. I know what I
do and what I have to do.
    Link

HoopsVibe’s Very Quick Call: Once again, Shaquille O’Neal
has stuffed his massive foot into his massive mouth.

Currently, Pat Riley is the architect/lead executive for the
Miami Heat. With Chris Bosh, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade
on the Heat roster, he may fire Coach Erik Spoelstra and
    return to the sideline.

As Stan Van Gundy can attest, Riles has `un-retired` from
    coaching once before.

Whatever Riley’s role with the Heat in 2011, O’Neal’s
comments have provided The Oil Slick with extra motivation
and incentive to defeat the Boston Celtics.

This isn’t wise. A rivalry is already brewing between the
Heat and Celtics. And O’Neal is giving the green-and-white’s
opponents extra clippings to put on their bulletin board.
So, why is Shaq re-hashing old wounds from his time with
    Riley in Miami?
If O’Neal really wants to help the Celtics, if he really
wants to make an impact, he’ll button his big mouth and
focus on filling-in effectively while Kendrick Perkins
    recovers from injury.

    --Oly Sandor.

    Shaq's not with any practicing.

    hey Eric in your article:

The following us is a list of players who need to step up
    this coming season:

    The following us?

thx Bobalou - fixed - wouldn't be surprised if there were
more issues - writing in the passenger seat with the kids
driving each other crazy in the back was - - - difficult

What happened in the Boise St game? Was there some bogus
    call?

#9603 of 9697: 2Cleva (Mario) on Sep 07 '10 at (05:45:17 AM)

I didn't see all of the 2nd half but no way Boise St could
run a true conference gauntlet right now.

They are good and experienced but not Top 3 in NCAA.

#9604 of 9697: 2Cleva (Mario) on Sep 07 '10 at (06:12:01 AM)

Give them time to prepare and get that chip on their
shoulder wound up and they can play with anyone. Opener,
    bowl game. whatever.

But on their bad days they are playing cupcakes.

#9605 of 9697: 2Cleva (Mario) on Sep 07 '10 at (06:39:19 AM)

emp - Bynum has only had 1 season-ending energy. He
obviously finished the last 2 years - hence the bling.

#9606 of 9697: M0JO (Brian) on Sep 07 '10 at (06:56:39 AM)

Whether Boise St can truly contend for a championship or
not, what Chris Petersen's been able to do with that program
    is pretty damn amazing.

#9607 of 9697: boardman (RJM) on Sep 07 '10 at (07:18:13 AM)

yeah, how has Petersen done it there? Would love to see an
analysis of their recruiting. Are they getting blue chip
guys to come to Idaho, or is he getting good but not great
recruits and just coaching the hell out them in a system
that gets the most out of their talents?

Has Beamer ever beaten a top 5 team?

When Vick was there, they may have but I can't recall the
Hokies ever winning a really big game.

gotta hope Oregon State can get it done now. Boise St in
the title game would be a joke. I agree with 2C's
assessment above. Give them time and they can play with
anyone. Week in and out against a conference like the SEC
or the Big 12? No way they'd come out without a few losses.

#9611 of 9697: 2Cleva (Mario) on Sep 07 '10 at (08:36:08 AM)

    Not just those 2.

Big-10, hell even Pac-10 they'd catch some Ls.

#9612 of 9697: HDB (Eric Newcombe) on Sep 07 '10 at (08:36:58 AM)

ESPN needs to do everyone a favor and take Lou Holtz off the
    air.

#9613 of 9697: HDB (Eric Newcombe) on Sep 07 '10 at (08:40:04 AM)

mario - Thanks for that link.

Lost in all the talk about Boise is how overrated Beamer and
    the Hokies are.

Shaquille O'Neal Crashes Boston Wedding, Fails to Deliver
    Best Man Toast
by John Beattie on Sep 2, 2010 5:34:04 PM

If Shaquille O'Neal wants to crash your wedding, he's going
    to crash your wedding.

And chances are, he's not going to be too coy about doing
    it.

After all, he'll be that 7-foot bald guy in jeans and a
    T-shirt.

On Friday, Aug. 27, that's just what happened as Shaq
wandered into the wedding ceremony of Kristen and Wes
Schifone at the Four Seasons in downtown Boston, much to the
delight of the newlyweds. Shaq didn't show off his epic
moves on the dance floor, nor did he spit out some serious
rhymes with the band, but it was a memorable visit to say
    the least.

"Considering it was someone of his stature, he was a total
gentleman and just acted like one of the guys," the groom
said from his Hawaiian honeymoon. "He accepted everyone's
photo request and even remembered our names the next day and
asked that we come down for a photo shoot with him for the
    [Boston] Globe."

Perhaps the future Hall of Famer was doing some homework for
wedding tips for his own nuptials?

The Big Crasher even showed up at brunch the following
morning, after a night of posing for some photos with the
couple and bridesmaids, as seen below.
